  • Autumn Mistletoe Update (2018)

    Posted: Aug 19 2024

With the end of September looming - this years endless summer feels like it has come to a close and we are now in Autumn's grasp.

The Mistletoe has had a mixed time - the springtime was kind. This is when the mistletoe flower gets fertilised - so the better the spring is the more berries the mistletoe will have in the winter.

However the long dry summer, which turned our normally green and pleasant land into a parched brown has not been great for the mistletoe.

Luckily the rain has come and now the mistletoe is looking much better - with the berries now starting to transform from their summer green into their winter white.

Hopefully all will be good for Christmas. The Photo is the current mistletoe colour as of September 21st.

On the sunny side of the orchard, at the top of the very tallest trees we are getting our first white berries.

It will be a few more weeks until the rest follows but things are starting to get festive around here.

    September Mistletoe

With September drawing to a close the mistletoe is starting to take shape. The berries are well formed but won't start to turn white for a month or so.

Ideal conditions back in the spring meant the mistletoe has lots of berries currently. As Christmas draws closer these berries will start to ripen and turn their infamous pearl white! 🎄September Mistletoe

    Midsummer - Half way there.

Today marks the summer solstice and the longest day of the year. Only 6 months until mistletoe's big day returns.
